Quickstart
This guide walks through the complete workflow of creating map art with MapArt Land Rental: creating a project, leasing a plot, building, locking the finished map, and releasing the plot.

Workflow Steps
1. Create a Project
Map art production is organized into projects. Creating a project is completely free of charge.
You can create a project via command or the GUI menu:
/mapart project create MyFirstMap
Alternatively, type /mapart to open the main menu, click "New Project", and enter a project name.
2. Invite Collaborators (Optional)
If you are working with friends or a team, add them as members to your project. If you are building solo, you can skip this step.
/mapart member add MyFirstMap Steve
Added members gain permission to enter the plot, place and break blocks, and use storage containers inside all plots leased by the project.
3. Rent a Plot
Rent a build plot matching your desired map art dimensions. Rental fees are deducted from your balance according to server settings.
/mapart rent MyFirstMap 128
In the GUI, type /mapart, select your project, click "Rent Plot", and choose the desired size.
4. Teleport to Your Plot and Build
When a plot is leased, a unique Lease ID is assigned to it. Teleport to your plot using the teleport command:
/mapart lease tp <Lease-ID>
Around the central map art canvas, you will find a dedicated buffer area where you can place scaffolding, chests, and crafting benches. Players cannot step beyond the outer boundary of this buffer, preventing accidental falls into the void.
5. Create and Lock Your Map
Once building is complete, stand near the center of the plot and right-click with an empty vanilla map to record your artwork.
When a lease is released or expires, the entire plot is automatically cleared and reset to a flat surface.
Due to vanilla Minecraft mechanics, if you hold an unlocked map while approaching a reset plot, your artwork will be permanently overwritten by the blank reset floor. Always take your map to a Cartography Table, combine it with a Glass Pane, and convert it into a Locked Map before releasing your plot.
6. Extend the Lease or Release the Plot
If you need more time to finish your artwork, you can extend your rental before the expiration date:
/mapart lease extend <Lease-ID>
When your map is safely locked and you have collected your items from chests, release the plot:
/mapart lease release <Lease-ID>
To prevent accidental data loss, a confirmation prompt will appear.
Re-run the command with confirm within 30 seconds to confirm the release and begin the automated reset:
/mapart lease release <Lease-ID> confirm
